ETHDenver is one of the largest Ethereum conferences, drawing over 20,000 attendees from around the world. The event serves as a key gathering for the Ethereum and Web3 community, featuring a hackathon, workshops, and networking opportunities. As ETHDenver continues to scale, ensuring a seamless ticketing and check-in experience while integrating Web3-native benefits became a priority.

Key Objectives

Integrate ETHDenver account creation and SporkDAO membership into the registration process to streamline ticket claims.
Drive ETHDenver account registrations and increase SporkDAO membership engagement.
Gate SporkWhale VIP ticket tiers to those meeting specific eligibility criteria.
Enable a frictionless onsite check-in experience, including NFC badge solutions.
Provide exclusive gated benefits such as online accommodation discounts and onsite discounted merchandise.

Solution

To achieve these goals, Moongate implemented and maintained a customized Web3-native ticketing solution that seamlessly connected the user journey from account creation to ticket claim and venue access. The solution incorporated:

Integration with Unicom Wallet and POAP, enabling users to verify their on-chain credentials during registration.
Gated access to premium ticket tiers, ensuring that ‘SporkWhale’ and ‘Bufficorn’ tickets were reserved for holders of at least 250,000 $SPORK or Bufficorn NFTs.
On-chain verification for exclusive benefits, including hotel deals and merchandise discounts based on ticket tier eligibility.
Real-time verification at check-in, allowing attendees to enter the event and access VIP lounges by scanning an all-in-one QR code or tapping their NFC badge against a verification app.
Enhanced attendee experience, reducing check-in friction and elevating access control through a fully Web3-enabled process.

Impact

Significant increase in SporkDAO memberships, driven by the integrated ticketing and membership flow.
Optimized onsite operations, minimizing manual check-in times and enhancing attendee experience with 19,959 successful transactions, 11,412 attendees, and 11,551 completed check-ins. Additionally, 26,900 emails were sent to keep attendees engaged throughout the event.
Successful implementation of Web3-based gating, ensuring only eligible users accessed premium ticket tiers and exclusive benefits.
Strengthened ETHDenver’s Web3-first positioning, solidifying its reputation as a leading decentralized community event with 21,245 MoonPass badges issued, enhancing attendee engagement through blockchain-native access solutions.
